    Corporate Policies

    Environment

We believe we have a responsibility to protect the environment. We also believe that good environmental management can improve our performance and the service we give to our customers.

We are therefore committed to the following principles:

    • To control, and where possible, reduce the environmental impact of the company's operations and to regularly maintain and modernise our machines to ensure an optimisation of our production processes.
    • To control, and where possible, reduce the amount of waste and in particular find re-cycling opportunities for these materials.
    • To meet fully all legislative requirements regarding the environment throughout all companies within the group.
    • To control and reduce the amount of energy consumed, and to participate in all our industry sector energy conservation initiatives.
    • To assess suppliers and sub-contractors and choose those who can demonstrate a good environmental management.
    • To provide information and trainings to our employees so that they can participate fully in the environmental objectives of our company and integrate these completely into their own actions.

As part of the environmental management implemented in our companies we make the effort to also implement a production process in our two foundries that is as resource-saving as possible. The majority of our materials used for the production of Unibar continuously cast iron, 75-85% in total, consist of recycled raw materials. During the production process these are melted together with pig iron. We are proud to make a major contribution to environmental protection and sustainability through this method.

    Health and Safety

It is the safety policy of the company to take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure the health and safety of all employees and persons working on the premises, and to prevent any damage to both company and personal equipment or property.

The company also wishes to safeguard the general public whenever its business activities bring it into contact with them.

The company will provide training, assess risks, consult with employees, maintain plant and equipment, provide trained supervision and maintain a safe and healthy working environment to enable these objectives to be met.

This policy statement is one of the methods, along with consultation, that the company will communicate its Health and Safety Policy to the workforce and others. It is a legal requirement that all employees should comply with this policy, and accept the duties and responsibilities contained within it, to enable them to make their place of work as safe and as healthy as is reasonably practicable. Failure to comply with instructions in this policy, or other health and safety instructions may result in disciplinary action under the company’s disciplinary procedure.

    Equality

The purpose of this policy is to provide equal opportunities to all in employment, irrespective of their gender, race, ethnic origin, disability, age, nationality, national origin, sexuality, religion, marital status and social class. We oppose all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination.

All employees, whether part time, full time or temporary, will be treated fairly and equally. Selection for employment, promotion, training or any other benefit will be on the basis of aptitude and ability. All employees will be helped and encouraged to develop their full potential and the talents and resources of the workforce will be fully utilised to maximise the efficiency of the organisation.

We are therefore committed to the following principles:

    • Every employee is entitled to a working environment which promotes dignity and respect to all. No form of intimidation, bullying or harassment will be tolerated.
    • The commitment to equal opportunities in the workplace is good management practice and makes sound business sense. Breaches of our equal opportunity policy will be regarded as misconduct and could lead to disciplinary proceedings.

    Quality

It is the prime object of our group companies and of all company employees to ensure a consistent quality of our services and products.

We therefore agreed on the following quality policy covering both foundries.

    Energy

The encouragement of saving energy and being energy-efficient in our facilities and productive processes is a significant objective for our organisation. For that reason, our top management decided to implement an energy management system according to UNE-EN-ISO 50001:2018 showing our commitment.
